AGM and Club Update December 2017

10 Dec 2017 by Adam Ball

Hi all,

The Norcross CC Annual General Meeting takes place on Weds 7th Feb 2018 and we are asking all members to think about ways to improve the club.

If you have any rule changes/adaptions then please let me know at the latest, 7 days before the AGM. I have attached the current rules for you to view.

If you wish to nominate yourself for a role in the club, e.g. chair, secretary, treasurer, senior captains and vice captains, then please can I have your nominations as soon as possible but at the latest 7 days before the AGM.

Currently, we are in definite need of a 2nd XI captain and there are plenty of you who could do a fantastic job of it. In 2019, it will be our centenary year and we are wanting to achieve great things. We can only do this with hard work off the pitch as well as on it. As a committee, we have been hard at work to improve the teams, pitches, clubhouse. However, we only have so much time on our hands and it would be fantastic to see people getting more involved behind the scenes to ensure we have a successful club. Our vision is to be in the Premier division in our centenary year. This hard work can start after Christmas when we practice at nets.

Winter nets will be starting on Tuesday 16th Jan at Millfield from 7:15pm – 9:15pm. These will last 10 weeks until we head outside. Please click this link to register for senior nets – https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScOcTlhSrIandV8oe85jW1N0RnthpKeiYnHJOeXRgz2seACFw/viewform

Junior nets are starting on Monday 15th January 6pm – 8pm at Millfield. Looking at current numbers, we will be running U11s, U14s and U15s teams in 2018.

We will pay for any scorers/umpires/coaches courses as and when they become available and I will advertise these when they come through from the Lancs Cricket Board (which will soon be known as the Lancashire Foundation).

We will be offering a 1st XI (in PS Div 1A), 2nd XI (in PS div 4) and Sunday XI (in Division 2 which is regionalised so less travelling with a focus on juniors getting senior experience).

The Palace Shield AGM takes place on Monday 11th Dec, and any info we get from that, we will feed back to you as it will be the first year of the PS/NL link and there are several rule changes because of the change to the MCC rules in October 2017.

The PS divisions will be as follows (taken from their website):
Whittingham have asked to go down to one team and, as that team will be mainly second team players from last season, they asked to go a lower division than division 1A. With no other teams in division 2 with a suitable ground wanting to play in Division 1A, Grimsargh offered to look at building an umpires facility which would bring them up to the level required for Division 1A so the Exec / grounds committee decided that they should be put forward for promotion. This leaves Division 1A looking like this:
Freckleton, Rufford, Norcross, Fylde, Withnell Fold, Hoghton, Standish, Mawdesley, BAC/EE Preston, Kirkham, Tarleton, Grimsargh

To enable Whittingham to play further down, Thornton Cleveleys 2nd XI were offered a place in Division 2 as the best placed side with a suitable ground. They have accepted this so Division 2 will be as follows:

White Coppice, Kendal II, Preston II, Wrea Green, Longridge III, Penwortham II, Whittle-le-Woods, Walton-le-Dale, Gregson Lane, Great Eccleston II, Vernon Carus III, Thornton Cleveleys II

Whittingham will take their place in Division 3 leaving one extra team to be promoted which will be Great Eccleston III if they can sort out some ground issues. In that case, Division 3 would look like this:

Whittingham, Blackpool III, Leyland III, Eccleston II, Fulwood III, Torrisholme II, New Longton II, Ingol, St Annes III, Charnock St James, Mawdesley II, Great Eccleston III

Another team will be promoted from Division 5. As there are no ground issues here, this will automatically be Walton-le-Dale II. Leaving Division 4 as follows:

Garstang III, Grimsargh II, Norcross II, Wyre, Longridge IV, Fylde II, Whittle-le-Woods II, South Shore II, Standish II, Tarleton II, Penwortham III, Walton-le-Dale II

Again, an extra team will be promoted from Division 6 and, as before, there are no ground issues so this will be Ingol II leaving Division 5 as follows:

Wrea Green II, Leyland IV, Hoghton II, Withnell Fold II, Chorley III, Vernon Carus IV, Gregson Lane II, BAC/EE Preston II, Darwen III, New Longton III, Fleetwood III, Ingol II

Division 6 will go to one division as follow:

Blackpool IV, New Longton IV, Kirkham II, Wyre II, Thornton Cleveleys III, Croston II, Tarleton III, Charnock St James II, Penwortham IV, Freckleton II, Longridge V

n.b. Longridge V still need approval and a rule change from the AGM so Division 6 will have either 10 or 11 teams next season.

To make this a successful club, we need to all come together and discuss ideas and put them into practice as a team. We have a good set of junior players coming through the ranks and we want to keep them at the club to ensure they, and the club, progress and grow.

If you wish to discuss anything then please get in touch – there are so silly questions and every suggestion will be listened to.

Thanks and please keep up to date by downloading Team App, or following us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
